Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the formal launch of the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana) will commence on January 22 across the state, with all necessary arrangements being finalized. Under this scheme, every family in Punjab will be provided cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh per year.

Addressing a review meeting on the registration process held at the meeting hall of the District Administrative Complex with the district administration and health department, the Health Minister informed that all residents of Punjab possessing an Aadhaar card and Voter card will be eligible as beneficiaries under the scheme. Dr. Balbir Singh further stated that around 650 private hospitals, along with all medical colleges and universities in the state, have already been empanelled under the scheme.

He mentioned that in Sangrur district, 207 registration locations have been designated, including Common Service Centres (CSCs). The Minister added that Sehat Mitras from the Youth Development Board will personally visit each household for registration.

Every family will be given a registration slip indicating the date, time, and location for completing the process. Beneficiaries can then visit the designated Common Service Centre at the scheduled time to complete registration.

Upon successful registration, a receipt will be issued, confirming eligibility for treatment. The health card is expected to be delivered within 2 to 3 weeks. He also highlighted that beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme will receive an additional ₹5 lakh health cover under this new initiative.

The Health Minister directed that all Deputy Commissioners will personally monitor the registration process in their respective districts. In Sangrur district, the Assistant Commissioner (General) has been appointed as the Nodal Officer, while all Deputy Medical Commissioners posted in the Civil Surgeon offices by the Health Department will serve as Nodal Officers. He instructed officials to ensure the registration process runs smoothly and that beneficiaries receive complete information, enabling maximum families to benefit from this historic scheme.

On this occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Ankur Mohindru, Assistant Commissioner Kirpal Vir Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Amarjit Kaur, District Coordinator Sham Singla, Coordinator Lavdeep Sharma, and several others were present.
