A meeting to review and finalize arrangements for the celebration of Republic Day was held today under the chairmanship of Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh. The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and Heads of Departments (HODs) of all concerned stakeholder departments.

The following points were discussed and decided in detail:

Elaborate arrangements will be made to ensure the smooth and dignified celebration of Republic Day in Chandigarh.

Rehearsals for the Republic Day Parade will be conducted involving school and college students, Police and Paramilitary forces as per the prescribed schedule. All departments were instructed to prepare and present tableaux highlighting their schemes, achievements and public welfare initiatives. It was decided that school children participating in cultural programmes/parade will be provided refreshments during rehearsals and on the event day.

The Transport Department was directed to provide adequate buses for school students to facilitate their participation in rehearsals and on the main event day.

The Engineering Department was directed to make all necessary arrangements, including sitting arrangements for guests and VIPs, barricading, stage setup, lighting and provision of basic amenities at the venue.

The Health Department was directed to deploy ambulances and medical teams during rehearsals as well as on the day of the main function to ensure medical preparedness.

Special emphasis was laid on maintaining due protocol and dignity for war veterans and war widows during the Republic Day Function.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to work in close coordination and ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities so that the Republic Day celebrations are conducted in a smooth, disciplined and befitting manner.
