Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Nidhi Malik today formally inaugurated National Immunization Drive (NID) at District Hospital by administering Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) drops to children in the age group of 0 to 5 years. The Deputy Commissioner informed that a total of 384 immunization booths have been established across the four blocks of the district.
“The immunization booths will remain operational full day to administer polio drops to children and over the next two days, dedicated teams will go door-to-door to ensure that no child is left behind,” she said. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the nationwide polio immunization campaign aims to eradicate the disease at its roots.
She noted with satisfaction that India has remained polio-free for several years and stressed that the continued participation of parents and caregivers is crucial to sustaining this achievement. The event was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Kohli, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Medical Superintendent, Block Medical Officers and other senior officers and staff of the Health Department.
