Commemoration of 75 Years of Adoption of the Constitution at U.T. Chandigarh Secretariat Highlights Commitment to Democratic Values

Constitution Day was celebrated today at the UT Chandigarh Secretariat, Sector 9, Chandigarh, in a befitting manner on the theme ‘Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman’. Senior officials and employees from all departments of the Administration participated in the event.

On the occasion, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Home Secretary, UT Chandigarh, led the reading of the Preamble to the Constitution of India along with senior officials and staff of the Administration. All present reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the values and principles enshrined in the Constitution.

A short video highlighting the history and significance of the Constitution was also screened during the programme. Constitution Day (Samvidhaan Diwas) is observed every year on 26th November to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India, promote janbhagidari (public participation), and honour the remarkable contribution of the Constitution’s Founding Fathers.

Present on the occasion were Sh. Diprava Lakra, Secretary Finance; Ms. Prerna Puri, Secretary Education; Sh. Swapnil M. Naik, Secretary Hospitality; and Sh. Surya Chander Kant, Legal Remembrancer, along with other senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration.
