The grand Nagar Kirtan, dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and his revered disciples—Bhai Mati Das, Bhai Sati Das and Bhai Dyala Ji—began from Talwandi Sabo and, after a night halt in Mohali, resumed its onward journey to Sri Anandpur Sahib this morning following an Ardas.

After the night halt on Friday at Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan, Sohana, and Gurdwara Sri Amb Sahib, the sangat gathered early in the morning and, under the blessed guidance of the Panj Pyare and Nishanchi Singhs, proceeded towards the next destination with the holy presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji was ceremoniously carried from the Sukh Aasan location to the Palki Sahib with complete devotion and adherence to Sikh maryada.

A large number of devotees participated. Prominent dignitaries present included Member of Parliament Malvinder Singh Kang, Chairman of Punjab Water Supply & Sewerage Board Dr. Sunny Singh Ahluwalia, Sarabjit Singh Samana (Councillor and son of MLA Kulwant Singh, Mohali), and from the district administration Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Komal Mittal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, SDM Mohali Damanpreet Kaur, along with other officials.

The district police also honoured the Palki Sahib with a respectful salute (Guard of Honour).  As the Nagar Kirtan set off towards Sri Anandpur Sahib amidst the resounding chants of “Bole So Nihal… Sat Sri Akal!”, a unique sense of spiritual fervour and joy was witnessed among the devotees. Devotees accompanying Nagar Kirtan expressed gratitude, saying that with the grace of Guru Sahib and under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, witnessing and participating in such historic moments was a divine blessing.

They also appreciated the seamless arrangements ensured by the the district administration with the help of gurdwara management committees during the night halt in Mohali. Addressing the gathering, MP Malvinder Singh Kang said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government feels deeply blessed to commemorate the 350th martyrdom year of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib with such devotion.

He urged the sangat to participate in large numbers in the state-level events being organised at Sri Anandpur Sahib from November 23 to 25. He added that, for the first time in the history of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, a special session will be held on November 24 at Sri Anandpur Sahib, dedicated to honouring the supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib for the protection of human rights and religious freedom.

Deputy Commissioner Mrs Komal Mittal stated that the district administration has made all necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth passage of the Nagar Kirtan, including security, traffic management, medical facilities and other essential services for the devotees. She added that multiple teams from the administration were deployed along the route to ensure that the sangat does not face any inconvenience at any point.

The Nagar Kirtan took the route via the Kharar Flyover to proceed towards Sri Anandpur Sahib, where devotees gathered at Gurdwara Sri Kartarsar Sahib, Padiala, and paid obeisance by offering a Rumala Sahib. SDM Kharar, Ms. Divya P, was also present to oversee the arrangements and pay respect.
