District Ganderbal participates in commemoration of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’

The District Administration Ganderbal today participated in the nationwide commemoration marking 150 years of India’s National Song ‘Vande Mataram’, joining the live telecast of the national level event graced by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi.

The event at Ganderbal marked the formal launch of a year-long celebration from 7th November 2025 to 7th November 2026, to honour the 150-year journey of this timeless composition. In this connection, a programme was organised at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat, Ganderbal, where school children, teachers, district officers, and enthusiastic citizens participated in mass singing of the National Song. 

The event resonated with patriotic fervour as students presented vibrant performances of patriotic songs and skits on national themes, receiving wide applause from the audience. Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, said that besides the district headquarters, the event was also celebrated simultaneously at block and panchayat levels. 

He informed that during the coming week, a series of programmes including patriotic song renditions, essay and painting competitions, and cultural events will be held across the district to further deepen the spirit of patriotism among the youth.

The Deputy Commissioner further stated that the celebrations shall continue throughout the year, in line with the phased calendar chalked out by the Government of India to commemorate this landmark event.

Meanwhile, commemoratory events including mass singing of the national song were also held at schools and other educational institutions besides at block and Panchayat levels across the district.
