Punjab Police Jalandhar team, equipped with 10 Olympian players, made a strong start in the 42nd Indian Oil Servo Surjit Hockey Tournament by defeating Punjab & Sind Bank Delhi by a margin of 5-0 and accumulated three points in its account. In the second match, Army XI defeated CRPF Delhi by a margin of 2-1 and earned three points.

The tournament, which started at the local Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium, was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha member Ashok Mittal. On this occasion, he introduced the teams. Hockey India Vice President, Hockey Punjab President Nitan Kohli and Indian Oil General Manager Yashpal Kant were specially present with him. 

On this occasion, the children of IVY World School performed a gymnastics show. The opening match was played between Punjab Police, adorned with Olympian players, and Punjab and Sind Bank Delhi in Pool B. 

In the first quarter of the game, the bank fought back against the police. In the 20th minute of the second quarter, Punjab Police captain Olympian Harmanpreet Singh scored a goal through a penalty corner to make the score 1-0. In the 26th minute of the game, captain Harmanpreet Singh scored a goal through the second penalty corner to make the score 2-0. 

In the 31st minute, Harmanpreet Singh converted a penalty stroke into a goal and scored the first hat-trick of the tournament. In the 35th minute of the second half of the game, Olympian Mandeep Singh scored a field goal to make the police 4-0 ahead. 

In the 40th minute of the game, Olympian Akashdeep Singh scored a field goal to make the score 5-0 and won the match and earned three points. In the Pool D match, Army XI defeated CRPF Delhi 2-1 after a tough match and earned three points. 

In the 10th minute of the game, Shamsher scored a goal for CRPF to make the score 1-0. In the 30th minute of the game, Army's Daryachil Yadav scored a goal to make the score 1-1. In the 55th minute of the game, Army XI's Atish Dodri scored a goal through a penalty corner to make the score 2-1 and earned three points by winning the match.

During today's matches, Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Himashu Agarwal, Olympian Harpreet Singh Mander, Lakhwinder Pal Singh Khaira, Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Surinder Singh Bhapa, Gurwinder Singh Gullu, Ram Pratap, Professor Kirpal Singh Matharu, LR Nayyar, Baljit Singh Olympian Surjit Singh's elder brother, Harinder Sangha, Gurinder Sangha, Ranbir Tut, Olympian Mandeep Singh's wife Udita, Amandeep Kaur, Narinder Pal Singh Judge, Natha Singh Gakhal, Olympian Mukhbain Singh, Baljit Singh Chandi, Rajwinder Thiara, Mangal Singh Bassi, Ramtax Company owner Jatinder Pal Singh, Gaurav Mahajan, Kulwinder Singh Thiara were specially present.
