In a powerful demonstration of people-first governance, Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ayushi Sudan, today spearheaded Block Diwas at the historic Baba Shivo Shrine in Goran, a far-flung area of Block Sumb, underscoring the administration’s unwavering resolve to reach every corner of the district, especially in times of crisis.

The public outreach initiative came at a critical juncture as the region grapples with the aftermath of devastating floods that swept through Jammu and Kashmir. With infrastructure crippled and communities disrupted, the DC’s visit signals a decisive turning point in the district’s recovery roadmap.

Moving beyond paperwork and protocols, DC Sudan conducted an extensive on-site evaluation of flood-ravaged infrastructure, including damaged roads, breached bridges and disrupted essential services. Engaging directly with affected residents, she listened intently to grievances, assessed ground realities, and issued immediate directives to expedite restoration work on a war footing.

“Restoring connectivity and ensuring uninterrupted access to basic amenities is not just a priority it is our solemn commitment,” the DC asserted. “No village, no household will be left behind. Every citizen deserves timely support and this administration will deliver.”

The Block Diwas also served as a vital platform for citizen empowerment, with line departments establishing on-site awareness stalls to demystify government welfare schemes and beneficiary programs. The DC actively encouraged public participation, urging residents to leverage these opportunities for socio-economic upliftment.

“Schemes are only as effective as their reach,” she emphasized. “Our mission is inclusive development ensuring every eligible citizen benefits from what rightfully belongs to them.” The event witnessed strong inter-departmental coordination, with senior officers including DDC Vice Chairman Balwan Singh, ADDC Samba Champa Devi Thakur, ACR Samba, ACD Samba, ACP Samba and heads of all line departments actively engaging with locals.

This collaborative approach reinforced accountability and streamlined service delivery at the grassroots level. The Block Diwas at Goran wasn’t merely an administrative exercise it was a reaffirmation of trust between the government and its people. It showcased a proactive administration that doesn’t wait for problems to escalate but meets challenges head-on with empathy, efficiency and execution.
