Karamjit Singh Rintu, Chairman of the Improvement Trust Amritsar and in-charge of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) North Assembly Constituency, today inaugurated the construction, expansion, and modernization of power infrastructure at the 132 kV Power Colony, Majitha Road. Karamjit Singh Rintu said that with the visionary leadership of AAP Convener Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, Honorable Chief Minister of Punjab Mr. Bhagwant Mann, and the active support of Honorable Energy Minister Mr. Sanjeev Arora, the campaign for the "Roshan Punjab" state-level project worth Rs. 5,000 crore was launched in Punjab today, October 8, 2025. 

Under this scheme, the construction, expansion, and renovation of power infrastructure in Amritsar district is being inaugurated at a cost of ₹307 crore. Karamjit Singh Rintu stated that under this project, power-related works are being carried out in Amritsar city and various major towns within Amritsar district, such as Baba Bakala, Jandiala Guru, Majitha, Raja Sansi, Ajnala, and Ramdas.

He stated that the power load on 54,11 kV feeders within the Amritsar urban area will be reduced and new feeders will be constructed. Work on 8 of these 54 feeders has been completed. Karamjit Singh Rintu stated that there are many overloaded distribution transformers in various areas of Amritsar city. 

Additional transformers will be constructed to de-load these transformers. Under this scheme, 94 new transformers are planned to be installed, and 19 transformers have been completed by 30/09/2025. Karamjit Singh Rintu said that keeping in view the demand of industrial consumers at Old Focal Point Amritsar, a new 66 kV substation has been sanctioned by PSPCL. The work on this substation will be completed during the year 2026. 

He said that completion of the above works for improvement and modernization of power system will ensure uninterrupted supply to the consumers of Amritsar district. Senior Deputy Commissioners Priyanka Sharma, Sahi Saggar, Balwinder Kala, Gulzar Singh, Aneek Singh, Ankush Gupta and senior officials of PSPCL were also present on the occasion.
