Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Sunday paid floral tribute to Shaheed-Azam Bhagat Singh on his birth anniversary and said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh Heritage Complex at the native village of the legendary martyr will be dedicated to the state in the coming months. The Chief Minister who dedicated the 100 feet tall tri-color flag constructed at the museum to the people on the birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam. 

He said that this 30 feet by 20 feet national tri-color is a part of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Heritage complex and will add zing to this sacred place revered by one and all. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the work on this complex is going on in full swing and will completed very adding that being constructed at a cost of Rs 51.70 crore this complex is a humble tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam.

Paying floral tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, the Chief Minister said that the iconic martyr sacrificed his life to liberate India from the chains of foreign imperialism. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this ambitious project will serve as a source of inspiration for future generations to serve the country selflessly adding that this significant initiative aims to preserve and promote the unparalleled legacy of this great son of the soil. 

He emphasized that the complex will not merely be a structural monument, but an unforgettable experience as visitors will witness glimpses of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s supreme sacrifice for the motherland, his intellectual depth, and his courageous spirit. The Chief Minister reiterated that the monument will feature a Grand Thematic Gate, a 350-meter-long Heritage Street connecting the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Museum to his ancestral house narrating the life journey of Shaheed-e-Azam and India’s freedom struggle through sculptures, 2D/3D wall art, and mannequins, capturing the essence of colonial-era India. 

He said that it will also have a 700-seat fully air-conditioned auditorium adding that a model of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s ancestral home in Lyallpur (now in Pakistan) is being constructed, along with a recreation of his ancestral village on the heritage street. Additionally, the Chief Minister said that the ancestral home at Khatkar Kalan is being restored and preserved adding that digital recreation of Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s courtroom trial is being developed to take visitors back in time and showcase his revolutionary fervor.

Bhagwant Singh Mann further added that the existing library is being modernized and digitized to offer an immersive experience adding that other facilities at the complex will include a Tourist Facilitation Centre, cottages, horticultural landscaping, a musical fountain, and ample parking space. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it is the bounden duty of the state government to perpetuate the legacy of great martyrs, who had sacrificed their lives for the sake of the motherland.

The Chief Minister said that the legendary martyr was not only an individual but an institution adding that we must follow his footsteps for the progress of the country. He said that every endeavor of the state government is aimed at carving a progressive and prosperous Punjab as dreamt by Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that for the first time in Punjab’s history, a CM and his entire Cabinet took oath of office on this sacred land of Khatkar Kalan.

The Chief Minister said that on March 23, 2022, the martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji, an anti-corruption action line was launched from Hussainiwala, marking the beginning of a war against corruption. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that a 30-foot-tall statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Ji was installed at the entrance of the Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, SAS Nagar (Mohali), in his honor. He said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government, the Mohali airport was officially renamed after Shaheed Bhagat Singh Ji.

The Chief Minister said that our government has also decided to put the portraits of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in all government offices. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the motive was to ensure that people of state can draw inspiration from these great personalities to serve the state. Meanwhile, he gave a clarion call to the people to follow the footsteps of these revolutionary leaders to carve out a rangla and prosperous Punjab.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid a wreath at the statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and also paid floral tributes at the memorial of the great martyr’s father, Sardar Kishan Singh. He also patted Diksha Raju, a 11th class student from Majara Deengrian who had made a Rangoli with the picture of the legendary martyr.

On the occasion Lok Sabha MP Malwinder Singh Kang and others were also present.
