Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party President Kewal Singh Dhillon termed the announcement of a new college at Dhanaula in Barnala as a desperate and misleading attempt by a sinking government to regain public trust. He said the Bhagwant Mann government has not only failed on its promise of medical colleges but has betrayed every section of Punjab, including youth, farmers, women, and employees, by failing to deliver on key schemes and commitments.

Dhillon said that in the 2022–23 budget, the government had announced 16 new medical colleges, yet four years later, not even one has materialized on the ground. Around the foundation stone laid at Mastuana, paddy is now flourishing, and the Gurdwara Sahib has reclaimed the land.

He further stated that the super multi-speciality hospital project at Handiaya, which had earlier been initiated, was scrapped; the nursing college at Thikriwala remains in limbo; and now the people of Dhanaula are being misled with another hollow promise.

The BJP Punjab President said that more than half of Punjab’s 37 National Highway projects are delayed by over a year, while four projects have come to a complete standstill. This government, he said, is skilled only in laying foundation stones, not in completing projects.

The Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana was implemented after a delay of four and a half years and that too with restrictive conditions. Employees’ dearness allowance dues and pensioners’ arrears remain unpaid, while beneficiaries of the Shagun Scheme continue to wait.

He added that while the government claims it has no money for employees, it continues to squander crores of rupees on advertisements. Dhillon stated that Punjab’s debt, which stood at ₹2.8 lakh crore in 2022, could touch ₹5 lakh crore by 2027.

In 2026–27 alone, Punjab is expected to spend ₹42,000 crore merely on loan repayments and interest. Despite this massive borrowing, nothing substantial has been done to improve Punjab. He said this government is not building development but mortgaging Punjab’s future.

Dhillon further said that Bhagwant Mann is merely occupying the Chief Minister’s chair, while the government is effectively being run by defeated leaders sent from Delhi. Even now, he said, the Chief Minister is missing and Punjab’s reins are in the hands of scam-tainted leaders from Delhi.

Those rejected by the people of Delhi are now making decisions about Punjab’s future, which, he said, is a matter of great shame for the state. He asserted that in 2027, the people of Punjab will show the door to this Delhi-controlled government of false change.
