MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta, along with his team, continued the cleanliness drive initiated by him from the Central Assembly constituency. He ensured the area around the Bhadrakali Temple from Gate Khazana was cleaned today.
MLA Dr. Gupta stated that he and his team had initiated the cleanliness drive in the city as soon as Navratri began, and it would continue. He stated that the company's abandonment of work has caused some problems with the sanitation system.
He stated that despite this, Mayor Jitendra Singh Moti Bhatia, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill, and all senior officials of the corporation are ensuring the city's cleanliness through the use of corporation machinery and private tractor trolleys. He stated that approximately 560 metric tons of garbage is being collected daily from the city.
He added that he himself is regularly taking to the streets and ensuring cleanliness in the Central Assembly constituency. MLA Dr. Gupta stated that the Avarda company was already performing inadequate sanitation work. He attributed this to previous governments.
He stated that the previous Akali-BJP government had signed a contract with Avarda in 2016. He stated that the company exited due to inadequate management. The company was supposed to stop work in October, but it stopped work on August 5th, creating problems with sanitation.
MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta stated that the Municipal Corporation has been preparing estimates and completing the tender process for the past six months to hire a new company to manage the city's sanitation system. He stated that the work order would be awarded to the new company within the next few days.
He added that the sanitation system in Amritsar will improve once the new company begins work. Corporation officials, sanitation workers, and a large number of Aam Aadmi Party volunteers were present at today's cleanliness drive.
