Continuing its commitment towards a cleaner and healthier Jammu, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) is conducting a series of special sanitation drives under the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva and Seva Parv 2025 campaign.

The program, which commenced on September 17, will continue till October 2, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The campaign aims to promote mass awareness, community participation, and collective responsibility towards cleanliness across the city.

As part of this initiative, a large-scale cleanliness drive was today organized at the historic and highly revered Bawe Wali Mata Temple in Bahu Fort under the leadership of Commissioner, JMC Dr. Devansh Yadav.

The drive saw active participation from volunteers, social activists, members of the temple committee, local residents, sanitation staff of JMC and senior officials of the Corporation. The team carried out a thorough cleaning of the temple premises, surroundings, pathways, and adjoining areas to ensure a neat and welcoming environment for devotees.

The Commissioner said that Navratri holds immense cultural and religious importance for the people of Jammu, and the Bawe Wali Mata Temple attracts thousands of devotees during this sacred period. Keeping in view, the JMC has made comprehensive arrangements for cleanliness, sanitation, and waste management to facilitate a safe and pleasant pilgrimage experience.

The Commissioner further appealed to the public, particularly devotees visiting the temple, to extend cooperation to the Corporation by maintaining cleanliness and refraining from littering. “It is the responsibility of every citizen to keep their surroundings clean.

Cleanliness is not just a service to society but also a true form of devotion. By keeping our holy places clean, we show respect not only to our faith but also to our fellow citizens,” he maintained. Dr. Yadav also emphasized that the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign is not limited to official efforts alone but is a people’s movement aimed at building a sustainable culture of hygiene and cleanliness.

He encouraged the public to actively participate in the drives being held in different wards of Jammu and to adopt practices such as proper waste disposal, segregation of garbage at source, and reducing the use of plastic.

The Jammu Municipal Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the sanitation campaign in the coming days, particularly in sensitive areas, marketplaces, religious places, and densely populated localities.

The Corporation has also planned awareness drives, door-to-door campaigns, and engagement activities with schools, resident welfare associations, and NGOs to ensure wider public participation.

With collective effort and citizen cooperation, the JMC aims to transform Jammu into a model clean city that reflects the spirit of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the vision of a green and hygienic future.
