To prevent environmental pollution, farmers must refrain from burning stubble under any circumstances and instead make valuable contributions to protecting the environment by adopting in-situ and ex-situ techniques.
These views were expressed by Deputy Commissioner Mr. Rahul Chaba during a meeting with officials of various departments at the District Administrative Complex on stubble management. The Deputy Commissioner stated that SDMs must maintain direct contact with farmers at the grassroots level, raise awareness, and ensure the full and effective use of stubble management machinery in their respective areas.
He further mentioned that this year, not only has the number of stubble management machines increased, but the industries involved in stubble disposal have also expanded. As a result, stubble burning incidents can potentially be reduced to zero this year.
To raise awareness among farmers about stubble management and to ensure the timely availability of machinery, duties have been assigned to officials of the concerned departments. He also directed SDMs and other officers to visit the field in their respective subdivisions, interact with farmers, and sensitize them about the issue.
On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner appealed to farmers, saying that the district administration has made comprehensive arrangements for stubble management. He urged farmers not to burn stubble, keeping in mind the environment, the soil, and the health of themselves, their children, and the elderly.
Instead, he advised them to incorporate stubble into the soil to enhance its fertility. Also present at the meeting were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Amit Bamby, SDM Sangrur Charanjot Singh Walia, SDM Bhawanigarh Manjit Kaur, SDM Dhuri Rishabh Bansal, Assistant Commissioner Lovepreet Singh, along with officials from various departments.
