The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, today inaugurated the SEWA PARV campaign at District Hospital Bandipora with the launch of Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan. The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl; DPO ICDS Bandipora, Yaar Ali Khan; ACD Bandipora, CMO Bandipora, MS DH Bandipora and other concerned officers.
Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services for women and adolescent girls, including screening for anaemia, counselling on nutrition and menstrual hygiene, and intensified services at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, and the District Hospital, aimed at empowering women and building healthier families.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner presided over the SEWA PARV event at the Conference Hall, where she addressed CDPOs, Supervisors, Anganwadi workers and other participants. On the occasion, the DC emphasized that hard work is essential, particularly for women, and cautioned that while smartphone addiction can reduce efficiency if misused, digital tools can also generate revenue when used constructively.
She further stressed that work should speak louder than appearance and appreciated the creativity of Anganwadi workers in poster making. The DC underlined that slowness in a child’s learning does not bar them from pursuing a career, urging Anganwadi workers to pay special attention to specially-abled children.
The programme was attended by DPO ICDS Bandipora Yaar Ali Khan, CDPOs, Supervisors, Anganwadi workers, NRLM members, officials of line departments, and community representatives. Across the district, multiple departments and institutions organized diverse activities to mark the launch of SEWA PARV.
A cleanliness drive was held at Wular Vintage SK Payeen by WUCMA, while the Agriculture Department Bandipora conducted training sessions on organic farming and sustainable agricultural practices, creating awareness and inspiring collective action towards a greener and healthier future.
The Municipal Committee Hajin, in collaboration with the Pollution Control Board Bandipora, organized an awareness programme on Single-Use Plastic, alongside a plantation drive in association with the Social Forestry Department Bandipora.
The Fisheries Department carried out a cleanliness drive in the Zurimanz area of Wular Lake and also conducted awareness campaigns regarding enrolment in social security schemes. The Municipal Council Bandipora spearheaded a series of sanitation drives, Swachhta pledges, plog runs, and clearance of waste at important locations such as Nishat Park, District Hospital Bandipora, Papchan Bridge, and Government Boys’ High School Bagh Bandipora.
At the same time, GMS Aragam undertook Swachh Vidyalaya activities that transformed the school into a beacon of hygiene and hope. At Nadihal Panchayat, the Assistant Commissioner Panchayat Bandipora inaugurated a 15-day cleanliness programme which featured Swachhta pledges, sanitation drives across public spaces, shop-to-shop awareness campaigns, targeted efforts to eradicate single-use plastics, cleanliness drives at the Amrit Sarovar, and clean-up operations at the cleanliness target unit (CTU).
In Sub-Division Gurez, the SEWA PARV programme was marked by the inauguration of the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar initiative at CHC Dawar by SDM Gurez and BMO Gurez, aimed at promoting women’s health and empowering families in the valley.
At the Sheep Development Office Gurez, the campaign was launched with an oath-taking ceremony followed by a cleanliness drive in the office complex. Latet, the Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, e-launched an Internship Programme on Solid Waste Management aimed at engaging youth and volunteers in sustainable waste practices.
The initiative is designed to create awareness on segregation, recycling, and reduction of waste at the source, while also encouraging collective action towards building a cleaner and greener Bandipora.
