The District Administration Ganderbal today launched the fortnight-long Sewa Parv celebrations with a grand Swachhta Drive, inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, from the Mini Secretariat premises.

The nationwide campaign, aimed at promoting environmental conservation, social service, community participation, and awareness about sustainable development, commenced with enthusiastic participation from officers, employees, and students.

The drive witnessed the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Syed Fahim Bihaqi, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sheikh Salahuddin, ACD, EO Municipal Council Ganderbal, employees of the Municipal Council, and students, who collectively undertook a cleanliness exercise in and around the Mini Secretariat.

The initiative was in line with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, reinforcing the importance of hygiene and sanitation. Earlier, the DC administered the Swachhta Pledge to all participants in the mini secretariat lawns, reaffirming the district’s commitment to cleanliness.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC appealed to the people of Ganderbal to adopt cleanliness as a part of their daily lives and behaviour. “Cleanliness is not just a habit but a safeguard for our health and the environment.

Let us all commit to making it a way of life,” he said. Highlighting the upcoming activities under the Sewa Parv, the DC informed that Grievance Redressal Camps will be held in the district in the coming fortnight.

He emphasized that the fortnight-long program is focused on connecting with people, reaching out to their doorsteps, spreading awareness about government schemes, and engaging with the vulnerable sections of society.

Meanwhile, similar cleanliness drives were organized across the district in Panchayats, educational institutions, health centres, and government offices, reflecting district-wide participation in the campaign.
