Five truckloads of relief material from Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann’s home district of Sangrur have reached Sultanpur Lodhi for flood-affected families. Sangrur MLA Bibi Narinder Kaur Bharaj today visited Baupur to survey the affected area and listen to the plight of the people.
The relief material was handed over to Rajya Sabha member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, who has been continuously helping flood victims for the past 23 days. Of the five trucks, four were loaded with fodder for animals, while one carried essential household supplies.
On this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal told reporters that the true extent of the damage caused by the floods will be visible only once the water recedes. He added that this is why assistance for the flood victims will need to continue for a long time.
AAP MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj, while handing over the relief material at Nirmal Kuteya in Sultanpur Lodhi, said that Punjab is currently facing a major natural calamity. She said that both the Punjab government and every worker of the Aam Aadmi Party are contributing according to their capacity to help flood victims.
Praising Sant Seechewal’s relief work since day one, she noted that Baba ji is well aware of the needs of the area. That is why he personally reached villages like Baupur, Sangra, and Rampur Gauhra to rescue people from their difficulties.
On the occasion, Sant Seechewal thanked the organizations and institutions that brought relief material. He also appealed to the people of Punjab, saying that the support for flood victims must continue for a long time.
Once the water recedes from this region, farmers will feel the greatest need for assistance. He emphasized that during the wheat sowing season, farmers will require fertilizers and diesel so that farming activities can return to normal.
Sant Seechewal expressed his gratitude to Sangrur MLA Bibi Narinder Kaur Bharaj, saying that because of her deep concern for flood victims, she came from such a long distance bringing relief material.
