Deputy Commissioner Rahul Chaba today chaired the monthly meeting of officers from various departments at the District Administrative Complex. The meeting focused on strengthening preparedness, ensuring effective service delivery, and addressing public grievances in a time-bound manner.
Addressing the officials, DC Rahul Chaba said, “The safety, health, and convenience of citizens must be the foremost priority of every department. We must work collectively to ensure that people receive efficient, transparent, and timely services without any inconvenience.”
Reviewing the arrangements of the Drainage Department, the DC directed the officials to make foolproof preparations to tackle any suspected flood-like situation. He instructed them to regularly inspect vulnerable points, carry out desilting of drains, and strengthen embankments where required.
He added, “Our aim is to ensure that no area of the district faces unnecessary hardship due to waterlogging or floods. Preventive measures must be in place well before any crisis.” Taking stock of the Transport Department, DC Rahul Chaba ordered strict enforcement of the Motor Vehicles Act.
He emphasized curbing violations such as overloading, rash driving, and non-compliance with traffic norms. He further said, “Road safety is directly linked to saving lives. Along with strict checking drives, awareness campaigns should also be conducted to make citizens responsible road users.”
The DC expressed concern over pendency in the Revenue Department and instructed officers to clear all cases at the earliest while ensuring hassle-free services to citizens. He stated, “Revenue offices are directly connected with the daily needs of the people.
Citizens should not face delays or harassment in availing services like property registration, mutations, or certificates. Our focus must remain on transparency and accountability.” Directing the Health Department, DC Rahul Chaba called for strict vigilance against seasonal and flood-related diseases.
He asked health officials to ensure adequate supplies of medicines, testing kits, and staff in government hospitals and rural health centers. The DC said, “Health is a critical priority, especially in the present season. Surveillance against water-borne and vector-borne diseases must be strengthened.
Awareness drives should be launched to educate people about preventive care, hygiene, and safe drinking water.” He also directed that health camps be organized in rural and flood-prone areas and that ambulances with emergency response teams be kept on standby.
“The administration must be prepared to provide immediate medical assistance to every citizen in need,” he added. Concluding the meeting, DC Rahul Chaba urged all officials to adopt a proactive, transparent, and citizen-friendly approach.
He remarked, “Our collective effort should build people’s trust in governance. Every officer must take ownership of responsibilities and work with dedication to serve the citizens of Sangrur in the best possible way.”
