Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond on Thursday laid the foundation stone for second modern bathroom/toilet facility for men and women separately at local Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Chowk, to be constructed at a cost of Rs 7.5 lakh for public convenience. Sond directed officials of the Public Works Department to ensure high-quality materials are used.
He highlighted that previous governments have not built any public bathrooms/toilets along the approximately 3-kilometer stretch of the highway passing through Khanna. He noted that the lack of public bathrooms/toilets caused inconvenience to visitors.
He added that since he became MLA from Khanna constituency in 2022, he has solved issues like garbage heaps at intersections, ensuring their clean-up. Interlock tiles and etc to beautify these intersections.
Traffic lights were installed to manage Khanna’s traffic, new cleaning machines were introduced, and several other initiatives were undertaken to enhance the city’s appearance. Sond also assured that he would work tirelessly for Khanna’s development.
Quoting the Gurbani verse, ‘Pawan Guru, Paani Pita, Mata Dhart Mahat’, he added that he is following in their footsteps to make Khanna clean, green, and pollution-free.
