District Administration Kathua, led by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, today organised a Tiranga Rally at the district headquarters as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to mark the 79th Independence Day. Students, security personnel, senior citizens, women and youth participated in large numbers, creating a vibrant display of unity and patriotism.

The rally was flagged off by DC Rajesh Sharma from the Sports Stadium Kathua and passed through key points in the town. Participants carried the national flag while chanting “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram.” Residents, shopkeepers and passers-by joined in, adding to the patriotic spirit.

Addressing the gathering, the DC commended the citizens’ participation and thanked security forces, students and civil society members for their support. He said the rally symbolised respect for the Tricolour and reflected the deep-rooted patriotic sentiment in Kathua.

The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, aims to encourage citizens to hoist the national flag at home, fostering pride in the national identity. The rally concluded at the Sports Stadium with cultural performances by school children, including songs, dances and skits on unity and sacrifice.
