A memorable Border Tiranga Yatra was organised today from Fazilka to the Sadqi Border, in which residents participated with immense patriotism, national fervour, and enthusiasm. The march was flagged off by Fazilka MLA Mr. Narinder Pal Singh Sawna, Deputy Commissioner Ms. Amarpreeet Kaur Sandhu, IAS, and SSP Mr. Gurmeet Singh.

Starting from the Deputy Commissioner’s office, the yatra—adorned with a sea of waving tricolours—proceeded on foot to Ghanta Ghar Chowk before continuing towards the Sadqi Check Post. Through this march, the 200-foot-high National Flag to be installed at Sadqi Check Post was ceremoniously carried and handed over to BSF officials.

Along the route, people welcomed the yatra with flower showers in marketplaces and villages along the border road. Upon reaching Sadqi, a BSF contingent offered a guard of honour to the flag, which was then received with full ceremonial respect and handed over after traditional prayers.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Mr. Narinder Pal Singh Sawna said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has installed the 200-foot-high National Flag at Sadqi Border (Indo-Pak border). Earlier, the Pakistani flag at this location stood taller than the Indian one, but now, India’s tricolour stands prouder and taller, symbolising the nation’s honour.

Deputy Commissioner Ms. Amarpreeet Kaur Sandhu stated that this is not only a proud moment for Fazilka but for the entire country, as our National Flag will now wave high, touching the skies at the border. She added that the large public turnout is a testament to Fazilka’s deep patriotic spirit.

Mrs. Khushboo Sawan Sukha Sawna remarked that the Punjab Government has completed a significant project that will further elevate the country’s prestige. On the occasion, saplings were also planted, sending out a message of environmental preservation.

The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Mandeep Kaur, SDMs Virpal Kaur and Kanwarjeet Singh Mann, SP Mukhtiar Rai, Mr. Khajan Singh, Shaheedan Di Samadhi Committee President Mr. Sandeep Gilhotra, senior AAP leader Mr. Upkar Singh Jakhar, Market Committee Chairman Mr. Paramjit Singh Noor Shah, senior BSF officer Mr. Ajay Kumar, Mr. Ram, Mr. Vinod Kumar, along with numerous dignitaries, social workers, and local residents.
