With the aim of highlighting the state’s heritage and traditions, the Punjab Government today celebrated the State-level Teej Festival in Patiala with great zeal and enthusiasm. Chief Guest at the event were Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Mann, wife of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, and Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur. 

Additional Secretary of the Social Security Department, Mrs. Vimmi Bhullar, also attended the event, adding to its grandeur. In her address, Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Mann said that the Teej festival brings joy, togetherness, and a message of love for Punjabi women. 

She emphasized that this festival is an inseparable part of our traditional heritage and plays an important role in connecting the younger generation with their roots. She added that this is the first government to organize Teej celebrations across villages and cities in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the Punjab Government has launched several significant initiatives for women’s empowerment. She noted that Teej festivals not only showcase cultural vibrancy but also play a vital role in instilling confidence and promoting self-reliance among women.

Welcoming the guests, Additional Secretary Mrs. Vimmi Bhullar said that the festival reflects the Punjab Government’s commitment to ensuring that women’s role remains vital in every sphere of life. The event featured vibrant cultural performances, including Giddha, folk music, and exhibitions of traditional arts such as jutti, parandi, and phulkari. Women and children presented displays of mehndi, rangoli, charkha, dari, and jindi work, attracting much public attention. 

Competitions for Baby Teej, Miss Teej, and Mrs. Teej were also held, with prizes distributed by the chief guests to the winners. The festival brought together hundreds of women and families, spreading a message of social unity and cultural values. Participants described it as a memorable experience. The celebrations concluded with guests dancing along with women and children to Teej songs, sharing the festive joy.

Prominent among those present were Chairman of Improvement Trust Nabha, Jassi Sohian Wala; Simran Kaur Pathanmajra; Additional Deputy Commissioner Navreet Kaur Sekhon; SDM Ismit Vijay Singh; Pardeep Singh Gill; Jobandeep Kaur; all CDPOs and Anganwadi Workers.
