Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering, Abdul Majid Wani, today visited Rewara, Pranoo, Rounda, Masssri , Shangroo and Trown areas of Doda district and addressed a series of public gatherings.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that streamlining of education sector has helped the state touch new highs of progress and prosperity socially and economically. He said with the sanctioning of new schools and upgradation of existing schools have yielded fruitful results in the district as the poor students living in far flung and rural areas are now able to get better education facility at their doorsteps thus reducing dropout ratio .The Minister said that additional accommodation has been provided to various schools by construction of additional blocks and rooms besides teaching as well as non-teaching staff has been provided to most of the schools as per the enrollment and sanctioned strength. He added that the Roads, Education, Medicare, Ration, Drinking water and power supply were among the top priorities of the coalition government.  All efforts  have been made to ensure prompt delivery of essential services and supplies to the common masses in a hassle free manner.

He said road network is being expanded under PMGSY, PWD, JKPCC and other schemes to provide better and all weather road connectivity to each and every part for development. He further added that different drinking water supply and irrigation schemes have been augmented and constructed to boost agriculture and other allied sectors. He added that under short term measures natural and conventional water sources were tapped to provide drinking water to the surrounding areas while as under long term measures various micro and mega water supply schemes have been sanctioned and constructed.

The Minister directed the officers to enhance their reach in rural areas so that benefit of welfare schemes and developmental projects percolates down to the poor people.The people of these villages projected their demands and problems such as up-gradation of Pranoo-Massri- Rewara PMGSY road, sanctioning and construction of Sarondha II Water Supply Scheme, posting of teachers in schools, repair and replacement of poles and transformers, construction of food stores, sanctioning of 1st aid centre at Rewara besides various other development issues.

Wani directed the Chief Education Officer Doda to rationalize the posting of teachers and ensure that adequate teaching staff as per the requirement and enrollment is provided to schools. He also directed PDD officials to ensure that the electric bills are charged strictly as per the meter readings. Enroute  Rewara, Pranoo, Rounda, Masssri , Shangroo and Trown areas, the Minister inspected road construction works and directed the executing agencies to expedite the pace of work besides ensuring qualitative works.Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) pision Bhaderwah besides  other senior officer accompanied the Minister during the visit.
