Doda , 19 Nov 2014

A number of public rallies were addressed by the R&B Minister Abdul Majid Wani at village Roat, Rachho, Barri, Dugga, Goha and Sewat in block Marmat of Doda constituency. In a statement Wani said that people of Jammu and Kashmir can never forget tenure of Ghulam Nabi Azad as its Chief Minister. “Those two and half years have been recorded as a golden period in history of Jammu & Kashmir; and, this time people of J&K will vote whole-heartedly for Congress Party, so as, to see Azad as Chief Minister of the state.”Addressing a public rally at village Roat, Majid Wani, said that Congress-led government alone has proved credentials of being pro-development as well as pro people during a short span of time between the year 2006 and 2008, when Azad as chief minister of this state laid emphasis on equitable, balanced and all-round development of the state. Wani said that, for better future of the youth and to continue with the journey towards prosperity, development and fast-track infrastructure building; people should vote for Congress to lead the state government, this time.

He said during those two and half years of Congress led rule, unprecedented developmental activities were started in the state with focus on building of roads, bridges, tourism development authorities, inter-regional highways, schools, colleges, off-site university campuses, health infrastructure, etc. “Double shift working concept was also introduced and implemented during those two and half years. A number of new districts were created and stage was also set up by Azad for creation of new administrative units upto patwar level. People of this state, particularly Doda constituency, are indebted to the son of soil Azad who, as Health Minister in the Centre, had sanctioned a number of new health centres, Cancer Hospitals and Medical colleges in backward & hilly areas of the state,” he said.

Six workers of the National Conference namely Mumtaz Khan Lone, Ghulam Mustaffa Butt, Zubair Ahmad Nayak, Nadeem Ahmad Khan, Mohd Sadeeq Nayak and Mehjoor Ahmad Lone, along with their number of supporters, joined Congress at village Roat in presence of Wani. These workers of National Conference pledged to work for Congress policies and programmes as they have been fed up with messy, conflicting and anti people policies of the National Conference leaders at the helm of affairs. Whether it was matter of demands for strengthening up of panchayati raj system, unnecessary use of force against government employees, regularization of daily wagers, delayed release of funds for MGNERGA scheme, introducing & then taking back anti youth new recruitment policy, introducing & then taking back civil accounting system for contractors, squeezing of funds in power infrastructure or so called flop Sher-e-Kashmir Employment Programme; workers of the National Conference party, all over this state, have lost faith in their leadership and find Congress party to be only secular political party in the state having pro development and pro people agenda and accepted by people of all the regions. Development process, in Doda constituency also, could start only when family rule of Suhrawardies who represented Doda constituency for more than two decades was over and people elected Wani as their MLA in 2002.

Wani said that that he has worked day and night to ensure fast development of this constituency. A revolution has been brought in Doda constituency with opening of a medical college, trauma hospital, new district hospital building, sports stadium, creation of new tehsils/ niabats/ blocks and patwar halqas, new degree colleges, a number of new higher secondary schools and hundreds of new primary schools opened up during this period. With commissioning of a number of major water supply schemes, people getting safe & hygienic drinking water, new ration stores have been opened up even in far flung areas. The whole constituency, today, is connected through a network of roads and bridges. An alternative national highway connecting Chennani with Anantnag via Marmat and Dessa in Doda and Sudh Mahadev Goha and Dessa Capran tunnels also, stand sanctioned. Batote Doda Kishtwar Sinthan top highway has been got transferred from GRIF to the state R&B department which will generate vast employment opportunities for local youth. Now my next mission shall, only, be to provide ample employment opportunities to youth of Doda constituency; for which plans have already been formulated.

Among others, who also addressed these public rallies in block Marmat of Doda constituency, were block president Kartar Singh Chowhan Sarpanch, Rumal Singh, Suresh Jogi, Yashpal Singh, Rajesh Kumar Bhagat, Lehar Singh, Irshad Ahmad Misger, Hakim Manzur, Hakim Singh, Om Parkash Sarpanch, Rajkumar Sarpanch, Subash Kumar Sarpanch, Engineer Vishal Bhagat, Mohammad Yusuf Wani, Ajmal Hussain Baba, Aadil Karim Wani, Najib-ur-Rehman Wani, Amir Wani, Waseeq Raja and  Nur Mohammad.
