In a major relief to the residents of Sectors 76-80, the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has proposed a reduction in the enhancement charges that were earlier imposed on them. The development came after a detailed meeting by MLA Mohali Kulwant Singh with CA GMADA, today, who has been actively pursuing the matter with GMADA.
Providing details, MLA Kulwant Singh said that the allottees were earlier served notices to deposit enhancement charges at the rate of Rs 3,164 per square metre. However, numerous representations were made by residents seeking a reduction in these charges. Responding to their appeals, GMADA has now proposed to reduce the enhancement amount by Rs 839 per square metre.
“The Authority will soon submit the revised proposal for approval at the competent level,” said MLA Mohali, adding that once approved, this would bring significant financial relief to the affected allottees. Further, in a resident-friendly move, GMADA will not levy any penalty or interest on those who have not deposited the enhancement charges since the issuance of notices.
Additionally, for those who have already paid the charges, the excess amount will either be refunded or adjusted accordingly. Meanwhile, a delegation of the Anti-Enhancement Committee, comprising representatives of Sectors 76-80 led by MLA Kulwant songh met with the Chief Administrator of GMADA, Vishesh Sarangal at PUDA Bhawan to discuss the issue.
The delegation included Mr. Sukhdev Singh Patwari (Convener), Ms. Charanjeet Kaur, Mr. Rajiv Vashishat, Mr. Sukchain Singh, Mr. Jarnail Singh, and Mr. Major Singh. The residents expressed their gratitude for the intervention and hoped for swift approval of the revised charges.
