To invigorate the anti-drug efforts, Punjab State Food Commission Chairman Mr. Bal Mukand Sharma visited Gurdaspur upon the invitation of the Jagat Punjabi Sabha Canada (Punjab unit). Alongside Deputy Commissioner Gurdaspur Mr. Dalwinderjit Singh IAS and MLA Batala Amansher Singh Shari Kalsi, they launched a unique anti-drug awareness campaign in district schools.
Mr. Sharma praised the well-planned program by Jagat Punjabi Sabha President Mukesh Verma and Senior Vice President Parminder Singh Saini to combat Punjab's drug problem. He was pleased to join the Deputy Commissioner and MLA in educating students from four schools across Gurdaspur about drug harms, administering an oath, and flagging off awareness buses.
At Guru Gobind Singh Public School, they planted a fruit tree, and the Deputy Commissioner assured students of a positive future free from drugs. MLA Kalsi, at RD Khosla Batala School, warned drug dealers of their approaching end, citing their collective work towards a drug-free Punjab envisioned by the Chief Minister. The Jagat Punjab Sabha aims to spread the anti-drug message to all homes through students.
