Reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to ensuring canal water reaches farmers’ fields, Cabinet Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur laid the foundation stone for a 7-kilometre long underground pipeline from village Jhorar to Shergarh Gyan Singh Wala.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Baljit Kaur informed that this underground pipeline project will be completed at an estimated cost of around ₹2 crore. It will provide irrigation water to approximately 1300 acres of farmland, which will greatly enhance agricultural productivity and improve the economic condition of farmers in the region.

She highlighted that due to saline underground water in the Sri Muktsar Sahib district, canal water is crucial for farming. The new pipeline will not only rejuvenate barren lands by supplying canal water but will also help improve soil fertility, boost crop yields, and increase farmers' income.Dr. Kaur said this project is a significant gift from the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government to the villagers, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the past 50 years.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Arshdeep Singh Sidhu (Personal Secretary), Chairman Jagdev Singh Bam, Chairman Jashan Brar, spokesperson Kulwinder Brar, Sarpanch Suman Rani, Net Ram, youth leader Ram Swaroop Shergarh, Harpreet Singh (Panch), Gurmeet Singh (Panch), Akashdeep (Panch), Jaspreet Kaur (Panch), Pawandeep Kaur (Panch), Sukhraj Singh Raj (Panch), Naib Singh (Panch), Gurpreet Singh, Sukhdev Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Rajwinder Singh Tarkhan Wala, Gurmel Singh Khane Ki Dhab, Rupinder Pal Singh, and Banta Singh.
