The restoration work of the historical Jahaz Haveli of Diwan Todar Mall, who bought the land for the cremation of younger sahibzadas of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Baba Zorawar Singh, Baba Fatehgarh Singh, and Mata Gujri Ji after their martyrdom, in its original form will be carried out by the Diwan Todar Mall Virasti Foundation, Punjab. The Cabinet Minister, Punjab, S. Tarunpreet Singh Sond, inaugurated the restoration work here today.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Mr. Sond said that the Chief Minister, Punjab, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann had directed that whatever work is to be done by the Punjab Government for this noble cause, should be done on priority basis and the Foundation which is going to serve this historical building should not face any kind of problem.
Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan himself took the lead and held meetings of the Foundation with various departments and representatives of the government, and the Punjab Government worked day and night to give all the approvals to the Foundation.
The Cabinet Minister said that until the completion of this work, whenever the Foundation needs anything, the Punjab Government is always ready to help. After the completion of this work, this foundation will also be contacted for the work of conservation of other heritage buildings in Punjab.
He said that this work is very costly, but the members of this foundation living abroad have taken up this responsibility and made a very commendable effort, which will be written in golden letters on the pages of history. He thanked the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and all the stakeholders associated with this work for their cooperation.
On this occasion, the MLA Fatehgarh Sahib, Lakhbir Singh Rai, and the MLA Nabha, Gurdev Singh Dev Mann, also highly appreciated the efforts being made by the foundation.While the foundation honored the cabinet minister, it also thanked Malwinder Singh Jaggi, Secretary, Mrs. Amrita Singh, Director and Mrs. Harjot Kaur, Deputy Director, Department of Archaeology, Punjab, for their cooperation in this work.
