MP Sanjeev Arora (Rajya Sabha) along with Deputy Commissioner Jitender Jorwal, ADC Amarjit Bains, Civil Surgeon, SMO & other concerned officials of the Department of Health and other departments and other agencies involved holders, held a marathon meeting, on Tuesday, to assess the progress of the ongoing renovation and upgradation work at Civil Hospital, Ludhiana.

Among completed works are completion of OT with latest technology, new ophthalmology department, laying of new Sewerage, complete waterproofing, painting (internal & external), laying of pavers in parking areas, shed for waiting patients, complete rodent control, strengthening of boundary walls, tile work on all internal walls, bathroom repairs, availability of potable drinking water, garbage dump removal, new signage and working of two elevators have been completed.

Deadline has been set for February-end to complete all balance works such as relaying of internal roads, horticulture, cattle trap, renovation & beautification of entry gate, pavers on some parking areas, extended signage, play area for children, new fans and lights for whole of the hospital etc and or any other works pending.

Arora said increase the workforce, if required, for timely completion of the works, adding that there will not be any shortage of funds. All the works are being undertaken by Arora under the MPLAD Funds and CSR Scheme.

However, he said it must be kept in the mind that not even a single patient should feel harassed due to the ongoing works. He said the patients’ convenience must be kept on top priority. He said the hospital’s entrance should be beautified besides undertaking other works. 

He laid stress to give a green look to the hospital premises by carrying out horticulture works in parks and other locations. The Deputy Commissioner suggested installing swings for the children coming with the patients and their attendants. 

He also discussed some emergency works to be carried out in the coming days. On the occasion, Arora immediately announced to release the required funds for some of the pending works. He said the hospital should not look less than a private hospital. 

He said the hospital’s hygiene conditions should be maintained at all costs. Later, Arora along with DC and other officers took a round of the wards, emergency, blood centre, Operation Theatre (OT), dispensaries etc. Arora also took stock of completion for MCH Wing which has been taken up by Punjab Health Systems Corporation (PHSC).
