Civil surgeon Dr Sangeeta Jain today morning paid a surprise visit to the government Drug-de-addiction and Rehabilitation center at Sector 66 and reviewed the facilities being provided to the patients there. She inspected the various wards of the center and interacted with the patients admitted at the center.

The civil surgeon instructed the health authorities to maximize the physical activity of the drug-patients so that their bad habit of drug addiction be eliminated forever. She told the doctors and staff to treat the patient with love and compassion and if a patient reacts strongly to something at any time, he or she should be treated with love and gentleness.

She checked the staff attendance register and directed the staff that they should do work with utmost dedication and loyalty. Dr Jain said that patients are being given a good atmosphere by the government, where they are provided with a free facility of lodge, food and treatment.

Dr. Jain said that the purpose of providing patients with facilities like open gym, television, music system and sports activities is to provide them with a home environment in the center so that their mind is away from the bad habit of drugs and they are always on the move. She said that drug addiction is not a physical but a mental problem which is completely possible to cure.

The person who wants to quit the drug only needs to make up his or her mind, the rest is the health department. She appealed to the people that if there is a drug patient in their homes, relationships or neighborhood, they should be motivated to shun this bad habit and be brought to the center or any government health facility.

Medical Helpline 104 can also be contacted for information and consultation.
