State is moving fast on the track to achieve the target of "Rangla Punjab," and in the series of steps being taken in this regard, history has been made by the unanimous election of about 3000 panchayats in the state.

This was stated by Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister, Punjab, while addressing the function organized for the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected 2456 panches of the district at the sports stadium, Sirhind.

He said that the newly elected panchayats should rise above party politics and give priority to taking decisions in the public interest. He said that the panchayats must use the grants received by the government in a transparent manner, and the villages should be provided with all the up-to-date facilities.

The cabinet minister said that the panchayats play an important role in the progress and prosperity of the villages, so it is the duty of the entire panchayat that every work done for the welfare of the people should be done with the advice of the people.

He said that nearly 70 percent of the population of our country lives in villages, due to which Panchayati Raj institutions are known as the beacon of democracy.

He said that sarpanches and panches have a big role in the policies made by the state government and their implementation at the ground level. He assured all the panches that there would be no shortage of funds for the development works of the villages.

The Rural Development and Panchayat Minister appealed to the panches that the panchayats should make a comprehensive plan to eliminate the increasing environmental pollution so that the environment of Fatehgarh Sahib, the land of martyrs, can be made green and pollution-free.

He said that panchayats act as a bridge between the government and villages, and panches and sarpanches should play a major role in the development of villages.

He also asked the panches to work hard to make the villages clean, green, and pollution-free. On this occasion, Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Advocate Lakhbir Singh Rai, Amloh MLA Gurinder Singh Garry Barring, and Bassi Pathana MLA Rupinder Singh Happy appealed to the newly elected Panches to carry out comprehensive development work of the villages without any discrimination.

They appealed to the panchayats that they must try to resolve the disputes of people in the villages at the level of the panchayat. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond, MLA Fatehgarh Sahib Advocate Lakhbir Singh Rai, MLA Amloh Gurinder Singh Garry Barring, MLA Bassi Pathana Rupinder Singh Happy, Director of Rural Development and Panchayat Department Paramjit Singh were specially honored by the district administration.
