Senior BJP leader Mr Devender Singh Rana today sought immediate restoration of various utility services, especially power and water supply besides road network in parts of the Nagrota Assembly Constituency, which have suffered colossal damages due to heavy rains since yesterday. During his extensive visit to severely affected areas of Panchayat Kangrail in Block Amb Gharota and Nadore in Block Nagrota, Mr Devende  r Rana interacted with the suffering people and took stock of the damages caused.

He expressed serious concern over massive damages to main and the interior roads, uprooting of water pipes and electric poles, saying the power and water supply has hugely been affected. He said mobility has been impacted due to ditches in roads that have partially been washed away at several places.

Therefore, the first priority of the concerned departments and agencies should be to restore power and ensure availability of drinking water, even if it entails deployment of water tankers, he said, hoping that the administration will rise to the occasion and come to rescue of suffering residents.

Mr Rana also demanded immediate desilting of Khangrail Khad and restoration of the road network, saying that the special teams of the concerned departments should have an immediate and thorough assessment of the situation to take corrective measures. Hoping that the concerned government departments and agencies will work in synergy to meet the exigencies in the constituency, Mr Rana said that ultimate aim should be to provide respite to the population that has suffered due to incessant rains.

He called for pumping out the inundated water from the water-logged areas including residential houses and other institutions in the Constituency. He emphasised the need for formulating monsoon plans to meet the exigencies and carrying out restoration measures based on the past experience.

Interacting with the people, Mr Rana shared the concern of residents and assured that all their problems will be taken up at higher forums to ensure that these are addressed earnestly. He said road restoration is necessary for putting in place the electric polls and water pipes.
