People with Disability (PWD) voters will be provided facility of wheel chairs across all the 271 polling station locations in district Barnala. District Election Officer Punamdeep Kaur said while presiding over meeting convened pertaining to arrangements for the polling day on June 1.
She directed that all the 271 polling station locations will have a wheel chair each so as to enable the disabled people have access to the polling places. The 271 locations include 192 rural locations and 79 urban locations.
She directed that the wheel chairs to be used should be proper so that the handicapped people do not face any problem. There are 3304 PwD voters in the district in the district of which 433 voters are visually impaired, 1893 voters are locomotor disabled, 330 voters are speech/hearing disabled and 873 voters are with other disabilities.
These include 2251 men and 1053 women voters. She added that volunteers from schools and colleges will be deputed for assisting the PwD voters. She added that in view of the heat conditions, arrangements are also being made to deal with intense heat. She directed that the medical kits to be provided enough sachets of ORS packets, at polling stations voters should be given drinking water facility, proper resting rooms and waiting rooms etc.

ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਬਰਨਾਲਾ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ 271 ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਲੋਕੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗ (ਪੀ.ਡਬਲਿਊ.ਡੀ.) ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵ੍ਹੀਲ ਚੇਅਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਚੋਣ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਪੂਨਮਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ 1 ਜੂਨ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਤਦਾਨ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧਾਂ ਸਬੰਧੀ ਬੁਲਾਈ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨਗੀ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ 271 ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਲੋਕੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਇੱਕ-ਇੱਕ ਵ੍ਹੀਲ ਚੇਅਰ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗ ਲੋਕ ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਕਰ ਸਕਣ।
271 ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 192 ਪੇਂਡੂ ਸਥਾਨ ਅਤੇ 79 ਸ਼ਹਿਰੀ ਸਥਾਨ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਵਰਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਵ੍ਹੀਲ ਚੇਅਰਾਂ ਸਹੀ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਣ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਦਿੱਕਤ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਨਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪਵੇ। ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁੱਲ 3304 ਪੀ.ਡਬਲਿਊ.ਡੀ ਵੋਟਰ ਹਨ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ 433 ਵੋਟਰ ਨੇਤਰਹੀਣ, 1893 ਵੋਟਰ ਲੋਕੋਮੋਟਰ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗ, 330 ਵੋਟਰ ਬੋਲ/ਸੁਣਨ ਤੋਂ ਅਸਮਰੱਥ ਅਤੇ 873 ਵੋਟਰ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਦਿਵਿਆਂਗ ਹਨ।
ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ 2251 ਪੁਰਸ਼ ਅਤੇ 1053 ਮਹਿਲਾ ਵੋਟਰ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੀ.ਡਬਲਿਊ.ਡੀ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਲੰਟੀਅਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਾਇਨਾਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਗਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਮੱਦੇਨਜ਼ਰ ਤੇਜ਼ ਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਨਜਿੱਠਣ ਲਈ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਬੰਧ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹਦਾਇਤ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਮੈਡੀਕਲ ਕਿੱਟਾਂ ‘ਚ ਓ.ਆਰ.ਐਸ. ਦੇ ਪੈਕਟ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਜਾਣ, ਪੋਲਿੰਗ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੀਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ, ਆਰਾਮ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਢੁਕਵੇਂ ਕਮਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਵੇਟਿੰਗ ਰੂਮ ਆਦਿ ਮੁਹੱਈਆ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਜਾਣ|
