The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jagraon Major Amit Sareen, along with Assistant Commissioner Krishna Pal Rajpoot and Punjabi singer Veet Baljit, inaugurated an Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) demonstration booth at the district administrative complex. The aim of this initiative is to educate voters about the EVMs/VVPATs used in elections and to encourage them to participate in the electoral process.
A signature campaign was also initiated to solicit support from the voters for the upcoming general elections. Major Amit Sareen highlighted the importance of this drive in sensitizing voters to strengthen democracy at the grassroots level. He emphasized that students and youth could play a major role in this process by actively participating in voting.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner explained that this program comes under the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation Program (SVEEP), which aims to make young voters aware of their democratic rights. He added that more such events would be organized in the future to ensure that the message of fair and free voting reaches every corner of the district.
To facilitate the youth, the Election Commission of India has launched the National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App, which they can use to apply for voter registration. Interested individuals can visit www.nvsp.in to register as new voters. He also appealed to the residents of the district to visit EVM demonstration booths to get basic information about the working of the EVM and VVPAT machines.
Punjabi singer Veet Baljit, who is also district SVEEP ambassador also emphasized the importance of exercising the right to vote and encouraged young voters to use it judiciously to strengthen democracy at the grassroots level.

ਆਗਾਮੀ ਆਮ ਚੋਣਾਂ ਲਈ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਮੰਗਣ ਲਈ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਵੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਮੇਜਰ ਅਮਿਤ ਸਰੀਨ ਨੇ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੀ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਇਸ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਾਇਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਡੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਵਧੀਕ ਡਿਪਟੀ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨਰ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਸਿਸਟਮੈਟਿਕ ਵੋਟਰ ਐਜੂਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਐਂਡ ਇਲੈਕਟੋਰਲ ਪਾਰਟੀਸੀਪੇਸ਼ਨ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ (ਸਵੀਪ) ਅਧੀਨ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਵੋਟਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਜਮਹੂਰੀ ਹੱਕਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਜਾਗਰੂਕ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਹੋਰ ਸਮਾਗਮ ਕਰਵਾਏ ਜਾਣਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਵੋਟਿੰਗ ਦਾ ਸੁਨੇਹਾ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਦੇ ਕੋਨੇ-ਕੋਨੇ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਸਕੇ।
ਨੌਜਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਲਈ, ਭਾਰਤੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਮਿਸ਼ਨ ਨੇ ਨੈਸ਼ਨਲ ਵੋਟਰ ਸਰਵਿਸਿਜ਼ ਪੋਰਟਲ (ਐਨ.ਵੀ.ਐਸ.ਪੀ.) ਅਤੇ ਵੋਟਰ ਹੈਲਪਲਾਈਨ ਐਪ ਲਾਂਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਵੋਟਰ ਰਜਿਸਟ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਪਲਾਈ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ। ਚਾਹਵਾਨ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨਵੇਂ ਵੋਟਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਰਜਿਸਟਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਵੈਬਸਾਈਟ www.nvsp.in 'ਤੇ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ।
