In an ambitious move to tackle unemployment and foster skill development, the District Employment and Counseling Centre (DE&CC), in collaboration with the District Administration of Budgam, orchestrated a dynamic Job Fair at the Town Hall in Beerwah. The event, which unfolded on Thursday, was inaugurated by the Chairman of the District Development Council (DDC), Nazir Ahmad Khan, alongside Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo.

The fair proved to be a grand success, drawing a crowd of 763 eager participants and featuring 17 leading companies, which collectively offered more than 1000 job vacancies. A remarkable number of 302 candidates were shortlisted for subsequent interviews, showcasing the event's efficacy in bridging the gap between job seekers and potential employers.

This job fair is the fourth of its kind in recent months, initiated under the guidance of the Honorable Lieutenant Governor of J&K, aimed specifically at empowering the youth and students of Budgam with ample employment opportunities. The DC Budgam, Akshay Labroo, underscored the significance of these fairs in the local employment landscape, noting that hundreds of local youths have already been shortlisted for further interviews by various private firms.

In addition to job placements, the fair emphasized the importance of self-employment schemes and skill development, with significant registrations recorded for skill enhancement courses. The DC encouraged the attendees to leverage these opportunities for better employment prospects and to engage with government incentive schemes for entrepreneurship.

Highlighting the potential within various sectors such as hospitality, handicrafts, and tourism, DC Labroo urged the youth to explore entrepreneurship through schemes like Tejaswini, Mumkin, PMEGP, and HADP. He reassured the community of the administration's support in navigating these avenues.

The job fair not only served as a platform for immediate employment opportunities but also aimed at long-term skill development, with future training sessions planned under the District Skill Development Plan. The initiative seeks to align the skills of the local youth with the demands of the job market, ensuring a more robust employment ecosystem in Budgam.

The event received accolades from various stakeholders, including the Chairman DDC Budgam, who lauded the efforts to mitigate unemployment challenges in the district. Plans are afoot to replicate the success of this job fair in other parts of Budgam, reinforcing the administration's commitment to economic growth and employment generation.
