The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab welcomed the decision of the Hon'ble Government to name government schools of Punjab after martyred soldiers and freedom fighters. AAP Punjab Working President Principal Budh Ram said that the Mann government is fulfilling each and every election guarantee. He said that naming government schools after freedom fighters and martyred soldiers will make people aware of such people, their thoughts and the sacrifices they made for the country and the state.
Attacking the opposition parties, Budh Ram said that the Akali-BJP and Congress parties ruled Punjab for decades but never spared any thoughts to the martyrs and their families. The AAP government led by Bhagwant Mann is providing all possible help to the families of the martyrs. The government is providing financial assistance of Rs 1 crore to the families of the martyrs and now to give more respect to the martyrs, the government has decided to name the government schools of Punjab after them.
He said that in this phase the government has changed the names of 31 government schools in the state and names of more government schools will be changed in future. He said that the Mann government has also changed the names of many government schools in Punjab which had caste based names. Principal Budh Ram appealed to the people of Punjab and said that if they want to name the school of their area after any such personality then they should contact the Education Department of Punjab Government.
