With water levels coming back to normal, life in border villages ravaged by floods is fast coming back to normal with road connectivity being restored gradually - road connect from Kawan Wali Pul to 5 villages has been restored - and the Admisnitartion acting swiftly in disbursal of compensation and assistance to all those impacted.

Deputy Commissioner Senu Duggal, who has been on the ground ever since floods started, stated that Rs. 27.26 lacs were distributed to those who faced damages to their houses and animals. Timely disbursal of this amount to all the needy is my priority, as I have seen on ground how people had to endure during these tough times, the DC Dr Duggal further said pointing out that the full force of the Admisnitartion is working diligently to ensure all relief and assistance to all.

Outflow of 141381 cusecs of water from Hussainiwala Headworks is taking place which is this is less than 50% of what it was before, as a result of which flood impact is decreasing and road connectivity is increasing in villages Bhaini Ram Singh, Jhangar Bhaini, Chak Ruhela, Teja Ruhela, and Mahatam Nagar.

Family members mostly men are also returning to their homes as water levels are going down to take care of their belongings, while we have advised children and ladies to stay at relief camps or with their relatives, the DC added.

Divulging details about the damage, the DC said residents of 16 villages have been affected whose close to 17 thousand residents of 4979 houses have been affected directly or indirectly. With danger levels going down, NDRF teams have also returned.

30 quintals of open ration has been distributed in these villages with around 3600 food packets besides 8327 ration kits. Rs 10.13 lacs for 16 houses damaged, 16 lac for heirs of decreased have been handed over, the DC further added adding that online disbursal of Rs. 1.12 lac out of Rs 4.87 lacs for damage to animals has been completed. 

All facilities are being provided to people living in relief camps and officials have been directed to be on ground to ensure timely availability of medicines to elderly besides other necessities, the DC added. DC also said that Girdawari work of crops also started.
