As per the directions of Punjab Chief Minister,  a special Girdawari is underway to provide  due compensation to each and every flood victim, which will be completed by August 15.

Divulging  details, the Punjab Minister for Tourism, Cultural Affairs, Labour and Investment, Anmol Gagan Mann while handing over the compensation cheques of Rs four lakh each to families of Nimba Singh of Tanda Karoran and Charanjit Singh of Miyanpur Changar and expressing condolences to their families for the tragic loss of the precious ones on Sunday.

She said that the precious lives cannot be returned with financial aid, but the government, realizing the pain of these families and she personally feeling the sad demise of their loved ones, has arrived here.

She said that during the heavy rains in the last few days, Kharar constituency has been hit badly by the heavy flow of seasonal rivers/drains from Himachal Pradesh. She has asked the administration to register the loss of all the  affected persons during the special Girdawari so that the damage caused by the floods could  be compensated to some extent by the government.

She said that the natural calamity of floods in Punjab could have been averted if efforts had been made by the previous governments, but now the Bhagwant Mann government will not let the people face such situations again by devising a comprehensive strategy.

The Cabinet Minister said that one of the reasons for the floods is the obstruction caused by constructions in the natural flow of rivers/channels, for which she has sought a report from the three municipal councils of his constituency, after which appropriate action will be taken.

She said that nothing can be more precious than the safety of people's life and property.Assuring the people gathered there of earliest repair of culverts and roads, she said that Punjab Government has approved a fund of Rs 11 crore for the construction of five culverts/small bridges in Tanda Karoran.
