The talented students of the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB), have created history by emerging as the proud winners of the National Youth Parliament Competition (NYPC) for the second consecutive time. They secured the first position in the 16th National Youth Parliament Competition, a University/College Level Competition, conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of India.

CUPB had previously clinched the championship title in the 15th National Youth Parliament Competition (NYPC) held in 2019. By successfully defending their title in the 16th NYPC, held this year, the university has maintained its legacy of setting high benchmarks. A total of 38 teams, consisting of 55 students each from different colleges and universities across the nation, participated in this prestigious competition.

The NYPC provides a platform for young individuals from across the nation to express their opinions, engage in thoughtful debates, and simulate parliamentary proceedings. The participants from CUPB made a lasting impression with their stellar performance in the preliminary round (held on May 26, 2022) and the final round (held on May 30, 2023).

Through eloquent speeches, astute parliamentary acumen, constructive debates on matters of national significance, and a profound understanding of democratic principles, they secured the top position in the 16th NYP competition. As per the tradition of the NYPC Prize Distribution Ceremony, the students from CUPB, who have emerged as winners in this competition, will be granted the prestigious opportunity to showcase their performance at the Parliament of India during the award ceremony of the 16th National Youth Parliament Competition.

On this joyous occasion, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, the Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Punjab, congratulated the participating students for their hard work and Prof. Tarun Arora, the Programme Convener, for bringing laurels to the university. He expressed immense pride in the remarkable achievement of the students in the National Youth Parliament Competition.

‘This victory is a testament to the university's commitment to instilling the spirit of excellence in its students and producing well-informed, socially responsible graduates who play a significant role in the nation's development and progress’, said Prof. Tiwari.

Prof. Tarun Arora, Programme Convener, CUPB, stated that the credit for this accomplishment goes to student’s hard work as well as quality research facilities and holistic education provided at our university.
