With efforts of Rupnagar constituency MLA Advocate Dinesh Chadha, daily looting of millions in the name of overloading on the Solakhian toll plaza on the Ropar-Chandigarh road today stopped.

Advocate Chadha said that this decision has given a big relief especially to truck operators and transporters.  He said that three times more toll was being charged on this toll in the name of overloading of transport vehicles such as trailers, trucks, pick-up vehicles etc, which is not beingcharged anywhere else.

MLA Chadha said that this toll plaza has charged Rs. 300 from pick-up vehicles, now only Rs.100 will be charged. Truck operators and buses used to charge 585 rupees, now they will be charged Rs. 195 rupees. Similarly, 3XL, 4XL, MAV and over size vehicles will now be charged Rs 315 instead of Rs 945.

He said that Punjab government led by Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann is real custodian of Punjab and protecting the interests of the people of the state and he will continue to do so in the future.  He said that the state government has taken such decisions in public interest.

Advocate Chadha said that he will also appeal to the Chief Minister to thoroughly investigate the illegal recovery of 3 times in the name of overload from drivers. He said that the recovery of overload from toll plazas cannot be done under any rules while there are other separate laws for this.
