Health Minister says, all DHs to get upgraded emergencies by 31st december, 2023

In view of providing quality treatment services in government hospitals across the State, monthly performance is being reviewed of all specialists & medical officers at Directorate Health Services, Punjab. It was disclosed by Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh while presiding over the meeting held at Deputy Commissioner office.

Balbir Singh said that Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Maan led Punjab Government is working on war footing to upgrade emergencies of District Hospitals by 31st December, 2023 so as to provide paramount health services to serious patients. 

After upgrading the DHs in a phased manner then Sub Divisional Hospitals to be equipped with all same facilities. Health minister took stock of emergency services of DH Rupnagar and instructed the officers of health department, no one  spared if found dereliction in duty at any level. 

Health Minister stated that Punjab Government has already started working on plan under which state of art ICUs are being set up in all DHs for which technical as well as advanced training is being provided to staff. 

Expressing concern over shortage of staff, he instructed civil surgeon Dr. Parminder Kumar to rationalise the services of medical and paramedical staff to ensure smooth functioning of all wards and branches of hospitals as there is sufficient staff than other districts. 

Acting promptly on issue flagged by MLA Advocate Dinesh Chadha, he ordered to constitute Committee to thoroughly look out the prolonged matter of de-addiction and rehabilitation centre of Rupnagar in High Court. He assured that residence facility would soon be made for house surgeons, other medical officers and staff as well. 

Pointing out the MDR and CDR cases, he said that all cases would be thoroughly scrutinised to reduce the death rate. He instructed the Civil Surgeons to submit weekly report of hospitals performance which will be evaluated.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pooja Seyal Grewal, OSD/Health Minister Col. JV Singh, SDM Harbans Singh, SMO Dr. Tarsem Singh, Advocate Vikram Singh and other senior officers of Health department were present in meeting.
