With an aim to spread green cover in the constituency, Ludhiana West MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi inaugurated leisure valley in Sarabha nagar adjoining Zone D office of Municipal Corporation (MC) on Saturday.

Spread in 6.75 acres, the valley has 3 rainwater harvesting systems, over 7700 plants including 500 ornamental plants, swings among other facilities for residents. Sand pits have been established to provide an area to the children to play.

Apart from seating areas and canopies established in the green belt, a 10 feet wide footpath has been established to facilitate morning/evening walkers. The total length of the footpath is 1050 meters. A total of 110 LED street lights have also been installed in the valley to ensure proper lighting.

MC Commissioner cum Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ludhiana Smart City Limited (LSCL) Dr Shena Aggarwal stated that the valley has been established at a cost of Rs 3.19 crore under smart city mission. Regular efforts are being made towards sustainable development, transforming the city for a better living and adding 'green lungs' to the city under the smart city mission.

MLA Gogi stated that spreading green cover in the constituency is among his focus areas amid rising concern over pollution. Three rainwater harvesting systems have also been installed in the leisure valley which will help in recharging ground water. The residents should take advantage of the facility for spending leisure time with their families and friends.
