Aykai Hospital, in collaboration with World Cancer Care, conducted a highly successful Cancer Screening Camp on June 22, 2023, at Aykai Hospital premises in Ludhiana. The event was inaugurated by Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Cabinet Minister, Department of Agriculture, farmers welfare, Animal husbandry Punjab government.

MLAs Daljit Singh Grewal, MLA Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Baba Dhanna Singh, Vice Chancelleor GADVASU Inderjit Singh & Others were also present on the occasion.

Dr Baldev Singh Aulakh chief urologist & transplant surgeon, main architect of the camp said this noble initiative was aimed to raise awareness about cancer of prostate, kidney, breast, colon, uterus etc and provide free screening services to the community.

Gurmeet Singh Khuddian commended the joint efforts of Aykai Hospital and World Cancer Care in organizing this event. He emphasized the importance of regular cancer screenings as an effective measure in fighting against the disease. 

He expressed his gratitude to the Urologists,Uro-oncologists, Gynaecologists and other medical professionals and volunteers of Aykai hospital and world cancer care who worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth execution of the camp.

Dr. Aulakh highlighted the significance of early detection in increasing survival rates and improving treatment outcomes for kidney, prostate and other cancer patients. 

He emphasized that such screening camps play a vital role in identifying cancer at its initial stages, enabling timely interventions and potentially saving lives. Dr. Aulakh thanked the entire medical team for their dedication and efforts in providing the necessary healthcare services especially Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, president WCC.

The Cancer Screening Camp witnessed an overwhelming response from the public with approximately 500 individuals availing themselves of the services provided. The camp primarily focused on three essential cancer screening tests, namely mammography for breast cancer, PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) for prostate cancer and Pap smear for cervical & uterine cancer in women. Additionally, comprehensive blood tests were also conducted to aid in the early detection and prevention of various types of cancer.
