Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan, while attentively listening to the demands of nursing colleges, assured that he would take up the issue with the Chief Minister and Health Minister of the state to resolve the issue at the earliest.

In a demand letter to S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan, the President of the Nursing Training Institute Association Punjab, Dr. Manjit Singh Dhillon highlighted the increasing demand for nursing degrees among the youth in India and need of the nursing professional abroad.

Dr. Dhillon emphasized that there is a need for over 40 lakh nurses in India, particularly considering the post-Covid-19 era. However, he expressed concern about the mandatory test imposed by Baba Farid Health and Sciences University Faridkot on nursing students.

He said that this requirement may discourage students from Punjab, as well as neighboring states such as Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, U.P., Bihar, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh, from pursuing their nursing studies in Punjab.

He said that this decision could have adverse effects on government revenue and lead to financial crises for nursing colleges.Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan empathetically listened to the demands, assured that he would promptly address the issue by discussing it with the Chief Minister and Health Minister of the state.
