Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa today conducted a public outreach-cum-grievances redressal camp at multi-sports playfield, Sewna to address the issues and concerns of the people and ensure prompt redressal of public grievances.

The camp was attended by IAS Probationer Dr. Shagun Singh; Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan; Assistant Commissioner Development Om Parkash; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chenani Dr. Ranjeet Singh Kotwal; district and sectoral officers; former PRI representatives and a large gathering of people from Sewna and adjoining Panchayats.

During the interaction, former PRI members and locals projected several demands and highlighted issues affecting the area. Key demands raised included the permanent restoration of Kera Bridge, meeting  shortage of drinking water, renovation of local roads, introduction of Science Stream at GHSS Pakhlai, establishment of a Kendriya Vidyalaya at Dhar Gadiya, promotion of the area as a tourist destination, redressal of land compensation issues, adequate staff in government schools, opening of a bank branch, measures to end monkey menace, establishment of a First Aid Sub-Centre and ambulance facility at Bant village, construction of an overhead footbridge and ensuring uninterrupted power supply.

While responding to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner assured the public that all genuine issues would be addressed in a time-bound manner. Several grievances were resolved on the spot by issuing necessary directions to the concerned officers.

The DC directed the departments to take immediate action on the genuine demands raised during the camp. He further asked them to submit detailed report on pending issues so that the same could be projected to higher authorities for appropriate consideration.

Interacting with the residents, the Deputy Commissioner said that the primary objective of such outreach programmes was to resolve day-to-day public issues at the grassroots level and to monitor the implementation of the government initiatives and Centrally Sponsored Schemes.

He also sensitized the participants about flagship schemes and programmes, including HADP, JKCIP, PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and Mission YUVA, urging them to avail maximum benefits under these initiatives. Earlier, officers and officials from various government departments educated the public about different welfare schemes and flagship programmes being implemented by the government and encouraged eligible beneficiaries to come forward and avail advantage of these initiatives.
