The police force has onerous and important responsibility of maintaining law and order and protecting the life, liberty and property of our people.Expressing these views after taking salute and inspecting the Passing Out Parade of 15th batch of newly recruited constables today at RTC Parade Ground, Police Lines sector 26 Chandigarh, the Punjab Governor and Administration, UT, Chandigarh, Mr. Shivraj V. Patil said that our Chandigarh Police force has the capacity and capability of serving, the public interests, but still they should require upgrading their professional skills continuously through high quality of training and education.

After inspecting the parade, Mr. Patil congratulated the  Chandigarh Police for performing excellent duty, Patil said that the Chandigarh Administration is committed to extend all possible help to modernize Chandigarh Police and to raise the standard of recruitment training center. He said that it is all the more necessary to give modern weapons to our police force and also impart them required training to use these weapons efficiently. He said Chandigarh Administration will try to provide latest weapons to Chandigarh Police and required ammunition for shooting practice. He said along with weapon training, physical fitness and physical education is also important for the police personnel. Besides he said they should also be fully trained in controlling the traffic and law & order. He said underground control system should also be set up in Chandigarh to strengthen the police force in the near future. He said two mobile police stations are already in operation in Chandigarh Police and we have decided to include more in the fleet.

Mr. Patil said that he was happy to note that out of these 129 passing parade constables, 45 were lady constables and most of view were highly qualified which will help you in understanding criminal and civil law easily.Mr. Patil also gave prizes to all those who excelled in their respective fields.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Mr. M.P. Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor, Mr. H.C. Kalyan, Mayor, Mr. Rajinder Upadhya, IGP, Mr. Sukhchain Singh, SSP(Police), Mr. Sarvjit Singh, Finance Secretary, Mr. Vivek Partap Singh, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation and other senior and police officiers.
