Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is dedicated to realizing the aspirations of the martyrs. In line with this commitment, portraits of Shaheed-e-Ajam S. Bhagat Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar have been installed in all government offices, serving as a reminder of their sacrifice. By acknowledging and emulating their accomplishments, Punjab can blossom into a vibrant state.

These sentiments were expressed by Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar, Local Government Minister of Punjab, during the inauguration of the Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra Memorial, occupying 4000 square yards at Golbagh. Dr Nijjar also performed the ceremony of removing the curtain from the statue of Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra at the same location.

He mentioned that a total expenditure of 2 Crore 44 Lakh has been incurred on the construction of this monument, which also includes the construction of a spacious hall and park.Dr. Nijjar emphasized the significant contributions made by the people of Amritsar in the struggle for freedom.

He highlighted the pivotal role played by patriots from the Amritsar district in various movements, including those who sacrificed their lives at Jallianwala Bagh. He expressed gratitude to the countless patriots who sacrificed for the cause of freedom, enabling us to enjoy the blessings of liberty, and stressed the importance of preserving this hard-earned freedom.

In a press interaction, Dr. Nijjar stressed that it is our duty to acquaint our children with the lives of these martyrs, enabling them to comprehend the immense hardships endured for the sake of freedom. He lauded Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra, who relinquished a life of comfort at a young age to make a significant contribution to the struggle for freedom.

On this occasion, the Shaheed Madan Lal Samiti honored Dr. Nijjar and other distinguished guests by presenting a memorial plaque.Addressing the gathering, former minister Mrs. Lakshmi Kanta Chawla proclaimed that martyrs are the pride of the nation, and their lives will forever serve as a wellspring of inspiration.

Mrs. Chawla noted that Shaheed Udham Singh, who was also executed in the same prison where martyr Madan Lal Dhingra was hanged in England, should have his statue installed alongside the monument. This would ensure that future generations are acquainted with their sacrifices.

He assured that the government is always committed to fulfilling the dreams of the martyrs. The proceedings commenced with the lighting of candles and patriotic songs performed by school children.
