Congress candidate for Jalandhar Lok Sabha by poll Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary said on Wednesday that fulfilling the aspirations and dreams of people of Jalandhar was the only purpose of her life.
Addressing election meetings in Bara Pind, Rurka Kalan and Phillaur city along with former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, she said she had never imagined of coming into active politics, but now she would work day and night to realize the dreams of her husband, Late Santokh Singh Chaudhary.
“I spent my entire life doing a government job teaching young students and shaping their lives, but after the tragic demise of my husband, Late Santokh Singh Chaudhary, my party has given me responsibility to contest the by election and represent the people of Jalandhar in Parliament.
I will work day and night to fulfil the aspirations of people of Jalandhar and realise the unfulfilled dreams of my husband,” she said.Speaking at the meetings, former CM Channi said the Bhagwant Mann government has committed a fraud on the people of Punjab by not fulfilling their so-called guarantees.
He said, “They promised to give one thousand rupees to every woman, but not a single woman has received a single rupee. They promised to increase old age pension, but our elders are still waiting for it.
Earlier, the government would give fifty-one thousand rupees under the shagun scheme after the marriage of poor people’s daughters, but in the more than one year tenure of the AAP government, no one has been given money under this scheme.
Many people are not even getting their ration under the public distribution system, and the ration cards of a large number of beneficiaries have been cancelled.”Channi said the Mann government claims of reforming the schools of Punjab, but there is not a single school in Jalandhar constituency which has the required staff.
He said even though the government claims of giving fifteen thousand rupees per acre as crop loss compensation, no farmer had received their due compensation.Channi said it is the poor people who are worst affected under the AAP government. We advocate for the eradication of poverty, he said, but they would rather eliminate the poor.
Commenting on the law and order situation in Punjab, he said the Mann government not only withdrew the security of Sidhu Moosewala but also posted the secret details on social media, leading to his gruesome murder by gangsters.
Exhorting the people to vote for Congress candidate Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary, Channi said she is an educated and the most capable candidate and is the best person to represent the people of Jalandhar in Parliament.
MLA Vikramjit Chaudhary thanked former CM Channi for sanctioning grants for Phillaur assembly constituency during his tenure and said that instead of taking forward the development momentum generated by his government, the AAP dispensation stopped the already released grants and did not allow village panchayats to spend the money lying in their accounts on development projects.
He said, “CM Bhagwant Mann’s government stopped the ongoing works. Not a single new brick has been laid in any village in Punjab. Is this the hollow development model Aam Aadmi Party has been advertising about? They have betrayed the youth, farmers, women, industrialists and poor people of Punjab, and the people of Jalandhar will teach a lesson in the by poll.”
Former MLAs Inderbir Singh Bolaria, Sukhpal Singh Bhullar and Angad Singh Saini, zila parishad and block samiti members, municipal councillors, sarpanches, and panches were present on these occasions.
