The Aam Aadmi Party got a big boost in Jalandhar ahead of the by-poll there. On Wednesday, influential Congress leader and former MLA Sushil Kumar Rinku joined the AAP in the presence of party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM and party president Bhagwant Mann, MP Raghav Chadha and AAP MLAs from Jalandhar.
Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann formally welcomed Sushil Kumar Rinku in the AAP family and addressing the media afterwards, Bhagwant Mann said that AAP family is flourishing and gaining more strength everyday. He said that the people who want to serve the nation and the people of our country are always welcomed in AAP's family. With a bigger family we will be able to serve the people better.
Bhagwant Mann said that Arvind Kejriwal is a revolutionary Chief Minister and a ray of hope for 130 crore people of our country. He said, "We joined politics for education, health facilities, employment, infrastructure and development; we don't do politics of hatred."
Urging the voters of Jalandhar to vote for AAP, Mann said that first Malwa had this honour, now it's the turn of Doaba to send the voice of the common people to the parliament. He said that we go to the doors of the people and fight elections on the basis of our work.
CM Kejriwal is the only politician who went to the people after five years and asked them to only vote for him if they liked the work of the AAP government in the last year and the people of Delhi gave them an even bigger mandate which is proof of our politics of work.
Speaking on the occasion Arvind Kejriwal welcomed Sushil Kumar Rinku to the Aam Aadmi Party and commended the works of Mann government in Punjab. He said that before the AAP government, Punjab had governments of raja-maharajas. But now Punjab has a government who understands the pain of common people, the AAP government is the government of students, farmers and the youth of Punjab.
Kejriwal added, we made electricity free, we are educating children, farmers are being compensated for their crop losses due to untimely rain and hailstorm, we are building schools, hospitals and mohalla clinics, today we kick started 'CM di Yogshala' to make Punjab healthier.
He said that Punjab is on the path of development and the Mann government is taking pro-Punjab and pro-people steps everyday. Answering a query Kejriwal said that opposition's unity is not important, the unity of the public us the key in democracy.
Welcoming Mr Rinku to the party, Member Parliament Raghav Chadha said that Sushil Kumar Rinku's presence will strengthen the party, not only in Jalandhar but in the whole Doaba region. Sushil Kumar Rinku thanked the party leadership and said that he is impressed by the dedication of the Aam Aadmi Party towards the people of Punjab and that is the reason that he's joining the party.
He said that AAP governments in Delhi and Punjab have done commendable jobs in every sector especially in education, health and law and order. He added, "My goal is to serve the people of Jalandhar as well as Punjab and I want the pro-people policies of AAP to reach every household of Punjab."
