The International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023 was celebrated with great enthusiasm and zeal at Community Hall Doda district here today.

 On the occasion of International Women’s Day, District Administration Doda in collaboration with Social Welfare department Doda, Mission Shakti  Doda, Childline Doda and other Allied departments organised a program on this year theme, “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality,” highlighting the role of innovative technology in promoting gender equality and meeting the health and developmental needs of women and girls.

The event was attended by women from all walks of life. Some of the women/ girls who are inspiration for others spoke of their experiences and their participation in the growth story of the County.

Cultural programmes, skits by the girls of Nari Niketan Doda highlighting women related issues, songs and speeches on gender discrimination, laws, and initiatives taken by Govt to empower women were main highlights of the programme.

DC Doda, while speaking on the occasion, and appreciating Social Welfare department for organizing the event, observed that the existence and perpetuation of mankind is because of the existence of women. 

He urged the women to ensure their participation in all aspects of  development of the nation. He added that as on date, he sees no field where women are behind the men, mentioning that atleast in UT of J&K, he knows large number of people who have provided level playing field to their sons and daughters. 

Therefore, the contribution and role of women in the development of the society has been appreciable in this part of the country. Some Sanitary Pad Vending machines donated by Ankur Maitrika hospital Jammu and Foregen Healthcare Ltd were also distributed by DC Doda among government girls' schools during the programme.

Later on, 21 women achievers were felicitated on the occasion who have excelled in the field of social activism, art, culture, education, sports, competitive examinations, singing etc, besides the participants of various activities were also felicitated by the concerned.

DC Vishesh Mahajan along with SSP Doda Abdul Qayoom, ADDC Doda Pran Singh, ADC Doda Dr R K Bharti,  participated in the programme. Among others present during the program were  Dy Director Employment Doda Idrees Lone, District Social Welfare Office Doda Tariq Qazi, DIO DIPR Doda Mohd Ashraf Wani, Principal DIET Doda Parshotam Goria, BMO Bhaderwah Dr Versha Kotwal, Dr Sanya Khan Gender Specialist District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Humaira Balwan Gender Specialist District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Nazia Munshi Principal Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Doda and other dignitaries.
